Almost every parent faces the inevitable protests when it comes to bedtime. There are some tips you can follow to create a consistent bedtime routine so that when it comes to bedtime toddlers are more cooperative and responsive. Make sure that your child’s bedroom is one that promotes sleep with comfortable clothes, temperature, and a night light. Try spending a few minutes of quality time doing a calm activity (like reading a book) before bedtime and set up a complete bedtime routine for shower, brushing teeth, reading time and bed time. If your child makes multiple excuses for trips out of bed, establish a single pass rule so that they understand they get one trip out after going to bed and no more! Above all else, no matter what you choose to do be consistent in your reinforcement of bedtime rules. If you start changing the routine, it will be more difficult on you and your toddlers.
